Music Therapy Works created and delivers a one year undergraduate module on music therapy for third year students at Birmingham University. This highly successful teaching programme not only produces several students who go on to train as music therapists but also served to increase the number of applicants to the University. Prospective students state both on application forms and at interview that the opportunity to gain a foundation level of knowledge in music therapy strongly informs their choice of institution.
Music Therapy Works engages in many other teaching and training activities such as the running of courses in therapeutic music making, lectures and talks to students at the Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of The Third Age.
Research is encouraged within the team, with peer evaluation and each project being carefully evaluated upon completion. Several team members regularly present papers on the work both in the UK and abroad.
