MA in Music Therapy 

Val has been working with MTW for over seven years. A saxophone player, Val studied jazz at Leeds College of Music before undertaking a postgraduate qualification in jazz at the Guildhall School of Music in London.

Having worked as a music teacher and jobbing musician in London and Birmingham for several years, Val returned to Guildhall to train as a music therapist qualifying in 2004. Now based in Shropshire Val combines music therapy with occasional jazz gigs, playing with big bands and a sax quartet.

In addition to her musical skills Val is an accomplished athlete, competing regularly in both fell races and marathons. By far the fittest member of the MTW team, Val achieved a personal best at the London marathon of 2013.
