MTW adopts an inclusive approach and where appropriate parents and carers are invited to share sessions with their children. We seek to work closely with surrounding multi-agency teams and onsite staff. We provide clear outcomes and objectives and provide both long and short term programmes of intervention. Where possible we provide support and training to those around each child.
Music Therapy is an ideal medium for children unable to access verbal counselling and who need a safe environment to express their emotions. Children do not need a musical background in order to access music therapy.

Benefits of music therapy interventions include:
  • enhancement of social skills
  • developing resilience and confidence
  • improving access to the classroom environment through processing underlying issues and developing transferable skills
  • a flexible service suited to each child’s situation and requirements
  • a reason for reluctant attenders to come to school
  • support with processing trauma,
  • specific work such as bereavement and attachment
  • support in school transfer and transition
  • a service for those who are unable to access CAMHS
  • communication with those who are unable or unwilling to verbally express themselves
  • clear aims and outcome measurement
