Leanne O'Keeffe

Music Therapist

MA in Music Therapy
DipABRSM Saxophone

Born in Solihull, Leanne decided that she wanted to become a music therapist at the age of 15. She studied for her first degree at The University of Birmingham, where she specialised in performance. During this time Leanne also completed a module in music therapy that was established and ran by Music Therapy Works.

Leanne then worked briefly for Birmingham Music service as a peripatetic teacher before going on to train as a music therapist at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. She qualified with an MA in 2013 and joined Music Therapy Works immediately after.

Leanne's clinical experience includes working with children in special school and mainstream school settings and with elderly patients with dementia. She continues to gain experience and further her work as a music therapist and likes to incorporate both active playing and technology into her sessions wherever it is possible.
