NURTURE GROUPS AND MUSIC THERAPY
Music Therapy can support nurture group psycho-social principles as it sets out to establish a safe, comfortable, warm and accepting environment where there is emphasis on pupils to explore feelings, encounter positive relationships with adults and with their friends.

Where nurture groups are in the process of being formed or even wish to introduce new elements, the Music Therapist can:
  • create a calm atmosphere
  • facilitate social skills
  • generate post-play discussion
  • address issues of bonding and attachment
  • Develop emotional regulation and resilience
  • support relaxation techniques
  • facilitate communication between adults and children
The aim is to increase pupils’ abilities to express themselves and therefore improve academic understanding and social awareness skills and promote better engagement with the curriculum.

If you are interested in discussing a music therapy service for your school further and would like more information, please feel free to contact MTW via our contact page. We are happy to visit school sites in order to discuss how we can provide a bespoke service suited to your particular school environment.
