Young Adults
Music therapy can provide a consistent and supportive presence during a young adult’s transition into further education, community involvement, employment or independent living. For people living with a developmental, learning and/or physical disability, chronic illness or mental health issues, an ongoing therapeutic relationship based on musical interaction offers a valuable platform for autonomous expression, which respects independence, offers creative choice and enhances communicative potential. Group sessions help to nurture community and promote collaboration.
Music therapy can...
- offer opportunities for socialisation with peers
- reduce feelings of isolation and vulnerability
- provide a safe, consistent and non-verbal environment whatever the circumstances
- help to address specific emotional or wellbeing issues during periods of transition and change
- allow space for processing experiences and feelings.
